The purpose of The Showing Up Project is to encourage women of color and other underrepresented communities to embark on their own journey of self-care and self-discovery by spending more time in nature. To me, Showing Up is another way of saying loving yourself, having self-compassion and understanding how to take care of your own needs. It’s similar to the way you show up for your family, friends and others, but this time the focus is you.
I hope that by sharing my experiences as I navigate through the ebbs and flows of life that it will give you some comfort and encouragement as you embark on your own journey of self-care and self-discovery. In addition, I will also share the stories of the friends and people I meet along the way. Mainly to show the different ways, both big and small, that people show up for themselves every day.
Together, let’s learn how to show up for ourselves --- one day at a time.
